For decades it seemed as though plastic surgery would never make the break from being something that people considered was only for women. Fortunately, statistics over the past few years have demonstrated that more and more men are finally realizing the benefits of plastic surgery; and what it can do for their physique.
Despite what many people may lead you to believe, men do care about their appearance just as much as women. Needless to say, the increase in male cosmetic enhancements is proof of that.
What Can Male Plastic Surgery Achieve?
Many men spend hours at the gym to achieve that ripped gym body. Unfortunately, that desire is far more difficult than it sounds. And for some men, it’s merely impossible. Genetics play just as large of a role as hard work and sweat when it comes to your physique. Therefore, some things are beyond the abilities of even the most dedicated gym-goers. Gynecomastia may be a problem for many men. While getting a toned body may not always be possible at the gym, it is possible in the realm of cosmetic surgery.
Muscular Implants
For men, pectoral implants are an ideal way to get the appearance of a chiseled, rock-hard chest. These silicone implants are placed just under the chest muscle to increase both the size and shape of the chest. There is no need to spend hours at the gym only to find no change in your appearance. Pectoral implants take less than two hours to insert; and have proven to be long lasting in their results.
Liposuction and Abdominal Etching
Liposuction has long been used to provide patients with leaner, trimmer physiques. Over recent years, this procedure has been adapted to create abdominal etching. Abdominal etching creates the illusion of six-pack abs by removing small pockets of fat to form ripples. While etching only removes small sections of fat, it can provide your abdomen with an aesthetic overhaul. Allowing you the ripped physique you desire.
Fat Transfer Surgery
Many men work for improved definition in their calves only to find lackluster results. Similar to the abdomen and chest, genetics come into play; and some men with naturally small calves are not able to build the muscles they desire.
While calf implants are an option to enhance the size and shape of the calves, calf augmentation with fat can provide the natural-looking boost that many men hope for. With fat transfer, donor fat is harvested from the abdomen or thighs through liposuction and transferred to the calf muscle through a small incision.

Achieving a firm and muscular chest can be harder than it seems. Many men spend months attempting to chisel perfectly sculpted pectoral muscles with lackluster results. Several factors can contribute to an unsatisfactory chest aesthetic, including genetics, developmental defects, and trauma. Even with dedicated diet and exercise, you may struggle to obtain the defined, masculine chest contour you desire. Enlarged breasts in men (aka: Gynecomastia) is a common issue plagued by many. Fortunately, pectoral enlargement with implants can instantly increase chest volume and improve firmness and shape.
The Pectoral Enlargement Journey
Pectoral enlargement is a quick, yet effective approach to male chest contouring. Small incisions are placed in discrete locations such as around the areolas, within the armpit, or under the breast. There are various implant shapes and sizes to choose from depending on your unique anatomy and goals. The procedure takes between one and two hours, and the initial recovery period lasts for one week. Most patients can resume their normal activities in four to six weeks, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 10 weeks. The final results of pectoral enlargement are visible in just a few months after surgery.
Is Pectoral Enlargement for Me?
Ideal candidates for pectoral implants must be in good health and have realistic expectations of the procedure.
That being said, you may be considering pectoral enlargement surgery if you:
Have underdeveloped chest muscles
Lack chest definition
Feel insecure about the appearance of your chest
Suffer from pectoral asymmetry due to physical injury
The Final Touch
Some men who struggle with building prominent chest muscles may also have excess breast fat that compromises their chest appearance. Male liposuction is commonly performed in conjunction with pectoral enlargement to produce optimal results. This body contouring procedure fine-tunes the effects of pectoral enlargement and can make your chest appear more sculpted and athletic.

In our society, having a youthful and attractive appearance can be highly beneficial – and this doesn’t only apply to women. The consensus that plastic surgery patients are all women is no longer true; due to a large increase in the number of men who have undergone plastic surgery over the last few years.
In fact, according to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, men underwent almost 1 million cosmetic procedures in 2012, and male cosmetic surgery has increased over 106 percent since 1997.
The most popular surgical procedures for men in 2012 were:
Most Common Reasons Men are Getting Plastic Surgery
The most common reasons why men undergo plastic surgery are to improve their appearance; and to stay competitive in the job market. Men often desire to look more youthful, fit, and masculine to improve many areas of their lives. And plastic surgery can help achieve these goals.
Improvements in appearance can boost self-confidence. As a result, confidence is often noticed by others and met with positive reception.* People often judge others based on their appearance, whether consciously or subconsciously. Studies have shown that more attractive people have better odds of landing a job or promotion. Men are increasingly turning to cosmetic surgery to get an edge on the competition and enhance their lives.
Dr. Mendieta understands the difficulties his male patients face in regards to their appearance, and his extensive training and knowledge allow him to tailor the procedures to meet the individual needs of his patients.* He offers a variety of aesthetic procedures to improve the appearance of the chest, love handles, stomach, and butt specifically for men.*
We Keep Getting More Demand for Male Butt Augmentation!
“Women have steadily been augmenting their rears into more shapely features for about five years,” says Dr. Constantino Mendieta, a board-certified surgeon near Miami, Florida. “Now, more men are asking for a more rounded, firmly-shaped rear end.”* “Two years ago, 2% of people asking plastic surgeons about buttock augmentation were male. Now, 47% of inquiries are from men. The reason?” “Men are more practicable,” Dr. Mendieta says. “Many of these guys have a flat rear which does not bode well for holding up one’s pants.“* “However, women admire other shapely celebrities who have had their backsides surgically rejuvenated. And see buttock contouring as a fashion statement; as well as a body enhancement“.
Dr. Mendieta has two ways to add shape and fullness to the buttocks — fat grafting and implant placement. When patients have fat to spare (that’s a size eight or larger dress), Dr. Mendieta uses liposuctions fat from corpulent areas and prepares it for re-injection. He very carefully injects drops of pearl-sized fat cells into the muscle layers through one very tiny incision. The secret of his technique is positioning the fat cells on the peak of the buttocks, so the transferred fat will develop a good blood supply and add shape. Typically, one to two pounds of fat are added to each side (requiring six to eight hours in the operating room). The result is a rounder, perkier butt.* “I estimate that 75 to 80 percent of the transferred fat remains for life,” says Dr. Mendieta.
What if You Don’t Have Enough Fat for a Fat Transfer?
If a patient is thin and has no fat to spare, Dr. Mendieta uses an implant made of a soft silicone, about the size of an adult hand. Available in teardrop, oval or egg-shaped sizes, the butt implants (which can never break or leak) are placed between layers of muscles in each buttock.* After healing, the patient’s posterior has a firm, natural feel (like he or she has been working out with weights).* Patients do not actually sit on the implant; which is placed higher than the bones on which one does sit. “I learned the basic butt augmentation techniques from plastic surgery masters in Brazil where a well-shaped rear is highly regarded,” says Dr. Mendieta. “Later, I began sculpting the patient’s waist and thighs to make the rear look even more shapely and round.” Dr. Mendieta may also harvest some fat from the sides of the patient’s rear to make it narrower.* That fat is also deposited on the peak of the butt to make it shapely, (or as the doctor likes to say, “more bootylicious.“)*
The Different Types of Buttocks on Females
After analyzing thousands of patient before-and-after pictures, Dr. Mendieta classified women’s bottoms into four shapes: A, V, square or round. He concluded the prettiest buttocks are A’s that look like upside down hearts, with a wider bottom than top.* “However, 90% of men have square-shaped rears,” says Dr. Mendieta. “After surgery, these men want to have more roundness in their rears, with what weight lifters call a ‘shelf,’ or more projection.“* Other buttocks augmentation candidates include women over 50 who have developed a flatter rear; and younger patients who say they desire a larger rear to complement augmented breasts. Many 20 and 30-something women bring in photos of Jenifer Lopez or Beyonce Knowles (celebrities known for their eye-catching, curvy bottoms).* Another reason more people are having butt implants (or gluteoplasty, as doctors know it) is because of the exercise craze. Women who work out very hard tend to lose the natural curve and shape of their rears, experts say.*
Butt Augmentation Recovery
Recovery from butt augmentation surgery involves the patient wearing a compression garment for about two weeks; going back to work in one to two weeks; and returning to the gym in about three to four weeks.* Depending on how the surgical wound is healing, the patient can carefully place her — or his — soon-to-be alluring posterior in a chair the day after the operation. And may resume driving after about four weeks.*
