What is a Miami Makeover

Every year, numerous women are dissatisfied with how their figures have changed following childbirth and seek plastic surgery. The traditional approach to restoring a woman’s pre-pregnancy physique is the Mommy Makeover; which enhances the breasts, tightens the abdomen, and removes unwanted fat deposits. The Miami Makeover, however, is the Mommy Makeover with a touch of South Beach. This gives women the full hourglass silhouette they desire by adding the all-natural Brazilian Butt Lift. Whether choosing one type of surgery or a complete Miami Makeover, a woman can gain greater self-confidence after her post-pregnancy transformation.

Ideal Candidates

Women who have experienced multiple pregnancies tend to be left with unflattering physiques; stretched, sagging skin and tissues in various areas of the body are common problems that cannot always be corrected with diet and exercise.

Ideal candidates for a Miami Makeover can relate to some or all of the following concerns:

  • Drooping breasts
  • Deflated breasts
  • Sagging or excess abdominal skin
  • Weakened abdominal muscles
  • Pockets of stubborn fat
  • Flat or disproportionately small buttocks

Miami Makeover Options

  • Breast Enhancement

Patients who are unhappy with saggy or deflated breasts may opt for a breast lift for a perkier appearance. Others choose breast augmentation to restore the volume that was lost following childbirth or to gain the volume they’ve always wanted. Because it provides a fuller and more youthful look, a combination of breast lift and breast augmentation is sometimes the best option; the breasts will gain a firmer and more shapely quality. The ideal procedures will depend on the individual patient and the results she envisions.

  • Tummy Tuck

Pregnancy often causes irreversible abdominal skin stretching as well as weakened muscles. A tummy tuck involves removing excess fat and skin from the abdominal area and tightening the remaining tissues to create a firmer, more youthful profile. Tummy tuck surgery is usually performed in conjunction with liposuction to produce optimal results.

  • Liposuction

After pregnancy, many women struggle to melt away fatty deposits in and around the midsection. Patients may want to consider liposuction if they suffer from stubborn, relentless pockets of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. Having an excess of body fat can be upsetting, but it is highly beneficial for patients getting a Miami Makeover. The extra fat removed with liposuction is used to enhance the hips and buttocks area; the fat deposits are relocated to a more attractive and desired part of the body.

  • Brazilian Butt Lift

Many patients opt for the Brazilian Butt Lift to give their buttocks a natural, fuller shape. To fine-tune the Brazilian Butt Lift, Dr. Constantino Mendieta developed the “Mendieta Technique,” which is designed to delicately recontour the hips and buttocks area to create a more defined hourglass shape. Using this method, Dr. Mendieta can accentuate a patient’s curves with her own body fat, reducing the possibility of rejection and fat resorption.

Recovery

You should expect to have some bruising and swelling after a Miami Makeover. Physical activity must be strictly limited for some time. Straining the body, bending over, and lifting heavy objects increases the risk of developing complications. Patients must rely on their family or friends for childcare and household chores. For several days, if not weeks, the patient’s focus should be on rest and recovery. The majority of the bruising and swelling will have subsided by three weeks after your Miami Makeover, but the complete resolution will take at least six months to occur.

Exercise

You can resume light activity such as walking or aerobics after two weeks of recovery. Patients who include breast procedures with their Miami Makeover must avoid upper body exercises for at least four weeks. Aggressive workouts may be resumed after at least eight weeks of recovery.

Results

You may still notice some bruising and swelling two to three months after your Miami Makeover. It takes about three to six months for the final results to become visible. The results of a Miami Makeover are considered permanent as long as a patient remains dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and has no subsequent pregnancies. Extreme weight fluctuations, as well as pregnancy, can compromise or even reverse the effects of a Miami Makeover.

Miami Makeover FAQs

  • What should I do before having my Miami Makeover?

Once your Miami Makeover surgery has been scheduled, you will have to follow a series of steps, including smoking cessation, suspending certain medications, and planning for your recovery period afterward.

Always talk to Dr. Mendieta and let him know what medications you are taking, even if it’s only a natural supplement. Doing this will prevent you from suffering one of a long list of complications related to medication intake.

  • Can I see before and after photos of other Miami Makeover patients?

It is quite common to be curious about what the result of your makeover will look like. Dr. Mendieta will provide before and after photos of previous patients to ensure your peace of mind concerning your procedure.

  • Will I receive post-op instructions?

Yes. Everything you must do to ensure a successful recovery, including what medication you will take for pain, the dosage, when to take it, what to avoid, and other important points, will be given to you with clear instructions. We want to ensure that you have a smooth, successful recovery process and will provide you with everything you need to know.

  • How much does a Miami Makeover cost?

The Miami Makeover cost depends on several factors, including the extent of correction, techniques used, surgical fees, anesthesia fees, and geographical location. The exact cost of your personalized Miami Makeover will be determined during your private consultation. However, there are some great plastic surgery financing options available.

  • What are the risks associated with a Miami Makeover?

Complications that result from Miami Makeover surgery are rare. Some of the common risks associated with any cosmetic surgical procedure include:

    • Bleeding
    • Infection
    • Scarring
    • Impaired healing
    • Adverse reaction to anesthesia
  • Will I have scarring after my Miami Makeover?

Patients who undergo a Miami Makeover can expect some scarring; however, Dr. Mendieta is careful to place all surgical incisions in discreet areas of the body so that they may be easily concealed with clothing and bathing suits. Additionally, any scars are likely to fade over time.

  • What type of anesthesia is used during a Miami Makeover procedure?

While both general anesthesia and local anesthesia are available, general anesthesia is typically used for Miami Makeover surgery. For your safety, you also want to ensure you are working with a board-certified anesthesiologist, regardless of the type of anesthesia chosen.

  • How long will I need to take away from work?

While some cosmetic procedures do not require time away from work, the Miami Makeover is not one of those. This combination of procedures will require several days of downtime, and we recommend staying home and away from your daily obligations for some time. Most patients take one to two weeks off work; however, the exact time will vary depending on the type of work you do (whether it is a desk job or work that requires you to be on your feet), your overall health, your age, and combination of procedures you underwent.

  • What will my immediate Miami Makeover look like?

Plastic surgery procedures take time to develop and define. This is due to the bruising and swelling present after surgery. While some improvements will be seen immediately, others take time (weeks or months) to finalize. Initially, you should expect to see improvement (tighter, firmer skin); however, swelling may mar your liposuction results, implants may sit higher on your chest, and your buttocks may appear fuller and larger than desired (this is because some fat is expected to be absorbed).

  • Will I have access to any follow-up appointments?

The number of follow-up appointments you will require after your Miami Makeover will vary, depending on the way you are healing, but you are required to have at least one appointment the week after the surgery. You will probably have to meet with your surgeon several times over the months after your procedure to evaluate your progress and results.
