Thigh Lift in Miami, FL
Slimmed Contours
The thighs can be a troublesome area for many people, with excess skin or fat impacting the shape of the upper legs. Weight gain and loss, pregnancy, aging, genetics, and other factors can affect the skin and tissue on the thighs in ways diet and exercise alone can't tighten or reshape.
Massive weight loss, in particular, can affect the appearance of the thighs and result in sagging skin. A thigh lift (aka thighplasty) is a body contouring procedure that removes excess skin and fat to tighten and reshape the upper legs for a more attractive appearance.
Dr. Constantino Mendieta at 4Beauty Aesthetic Institute for Plastic Surgery is one of Miami, Florida's top plastic surgeons and offers thighplasty to help patients achieve firm, well-shaped thighs.
Thigh Lift Cost in Miami & Flexible Financing Options
The cost of a thigh lift in Miami varies based on the procedure's complexity and the amount of excess skin and fat that must be removed. The national average cost of a thigh lift ranges from $5,000 to $12,000 or more, depending on the above factors.
Your plastic surgeon will create a custom surgical plan that includes the specific steps needed to achieve your goals. Once complete, they will provide an accurate cost estimate that reflects your specific needs. Additionally, we offer several flexible financing options for your convenience.

What Is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift, sometimes called thighplasty, is a body contouring procedure designed to target loose, sagging skin, muscle, and fat around the upper to mid thighs. This procedure is typically ideal for patients who have lost a large amount of weight and have excess, loose skin. In fact, it’s commonly performed along with other body contouring procedures after massive weight loss, like arm lifts, or as a result of weight loss after GLP-1s.
Benefits of a Thigh Lift
Losing a large amount of weight can boost your health and confidence, and it's something to be celebrated. However, it's not unusual for patients who have lost a lot of weight to be left with loose skin, lax muscles, and stretched tissue, leaving the thighs misshapen and even uncomfortable due to rashes and skin irritation. A thigh lift remedies these issues by tightening loose tissue and removing excess skin.
Other benefits of a thigh lift include:
- Improved physical appearance
- Toned legs and slimmer contours
- Enhanced mobility by removing excess skin and tissue
- More clothing choices
- Elimination of skin irritation and rashes caused by friction on the skin
- Improved confidence
Who Is an Ideal Candidate for a Thigh Lift?
Good candidates for a thigh lift have excess skin on the upper to mid thighs that detracts from their appearance, causes discomfort and rashes, and affects self-confidence. Most patients are post-massive weight loss or have lost a rapid amount of weight using GLP-1s; in some cases, skin laxity from aging also prevents the skin from retracting after weight loss.
Ideal thigh lift candidates:
- Have loose skin and tissue that cannot be fixed through diet and exercise
- Have lost skin elasticity due to aging
- Have some pockets of excess fat
- Want to contour their thighs by removing excess skin
- Are in good health
- Have reasonable expectations for results
What Are My Thigh Lift Options?
At 4Beauty by Mendieta, each thigh lift is custom to the patient's needs—no two are alike. As such, you will work with one of our expert plastic surgeons to create a custom surgical plan that covers your unique needs. Below are some common options for popular combination procedures and thigh lift techniques.
Inner (Medial) Thigh Lift
During an inner thigh lift, your surgeon makes an incision along the inside of the groin crease to treat loose skin in the upper, inner thigh.
Outer (Lateral) Thigh Lift
An outer thigh lift treats excess, sagging skin and pockets of fat along the outer thighs and hips using a combination of liposuction and incisions near the hip and upper thigh.
Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift, sometimes called a body lift, is a body contouring procedure that treats multiple areas of the lower body for loose skin, including the midsection, back, thighs, and buttocks. This procedure is often combined with a lateral thigh lift and is ideal for patients who require more substantial revision or who want to combine procedures for a more seamless result.
Preparing for Your Thigh Lift
If you’re considering a thigh lift to reveal your slimmed legs and boost your confidence, it’s helpful to know what you’ll need to do to prepare for the procedure and make your experience as smooth as possible.
Your expert body contouring surgeon will discuss what you need to do prior to surgery, which may include:
- Undergoing any necessary medical testing and diagnostics such as blood work
- Stopping or pausing certain medications that can affect healing, such as NSAIDS or certain herbal supplements
- Quitting smoking
- Maintaining a stable weight
It’s important to note that while a small amount of stubborn fat can be removed during a thigh lift, it is not a weight loss procedure. This procedure works best after you have reached or are close to your goal weight. Maintaining a stable weight improves the safety of your procedure and your results, since weight fluctuations can affect outcomes.
Additionally, preparing for your recovery process is an important consideration. You will need to take time off work to recover and may need to enlist someone to help you around the house with daily chores, childcare, and pet care. Planning ahead can reduce last-minute stress and allow you to rest peacefully.

What to Expect During Thigh Lift Surgery
Thigh Lift Consultation
The first step in the thigh lift process is to schedule a consultation with your body contouring surgeon at 4Beauty by Mendieta. During this meeting, you will discuss your goals for the procedure: what areas of your thighs you’d like addressed, whether you need or want liposuction for fat removal, and what surgical technique might be best. If you have excess skin elsewhere on your body, you may wish to discuss additional procedures like an arm lift or abdominoplasty.
Your surgeon will listen to your goals, ask questions about your medical history, examine your legs, and show you before and after images to give you an idea of what you can expect from results.
If you both agree that a thigh lift is the right procedure for you, they will create a custom surgical plan outlining the details of your procedure, the techniques used, and more. Lastly, you will be provided with an accurate cost estimate.
Thigh Lift Procedure
Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia for your comfort and to ensure you are asleep during the duration of your procedure. Through specific incisions for your surgical technique, your surgeon will tighten loose tissue and remove any excess skin. Liposuction may also be used to remove stubborn pockets of fat and contour the legs. Lastly, your surgeon will drape the remaining skin in a natural position to reveal your newly contoured, slimmer thighs. Once they are satisfied with the results, they will carefully close the incisions with neat sutures, minimizing the risk of visible scarring as much as possible. Your thighs will be wrapped in light surgical gauze, and you will be monitored as you wake from anesthesia.
The procedure takes approximately two to three hours, and most patients are cleared to go home the same day under the care of a responsible driver.
Breast Augmentation Recovery & Aftercare
The breast augmentation consultation is the first step in the process, as you will meet with your surgeon and discuss all the customization options mentioned above. Be sure to ask any questions you have and discuss your goals in terms of final results. While there are many options to consider, your surgeon will be able to help you choose the best set of options to achieve the look you want.
Once you have decided if breast augmentation is right for you, your plastic surgeon will create a surgical plan that details the implant size, type, and projection, as well as the incision type and placement. At that time, they will provide you with a cost estimate.
Week One Breast Augmentation Recovery
For the first 24 hours, you will be tired and groggy from anesthesia. Your breasts may have a protective gauze over them or a light surgical bra. Follow your surgeon’s instructions as to how long to wear it.
Discomfort is usually mild enough that prescription pain medication is not needed, although you may request it. Expect your breasts to feel swollen and look bruised; this is completely normal. You will have difficulty raising your arms and bending over at first; limit these actions as you heal. You’ll need to spend the first 48 hours resting as much as possible. It may be helpful for you to sleep with your chest somewhat elevated with cushions, as this can help reduce swelling.
Most patients feel more like themselves after about the third or fourth day post-op, but don’t push yourself. You’ll need to avoid strenuous exercise and activities for at least two weeks, or as instructed by your surgeon.
You’ll likely be able to return to work at the end of your first week post-breast augmentation, although if your job is more physically demanding, you may need to wait a little longer. Be sure to balance plenty of rest with light physical activity, such as walking, to promote healthy blood circulation.
Thigh Lift Recovery & Aftercare
Immediately after your procedure, your thighs will be bandaged with gauze, and you may be groggy from the anesthesia. You will need a responsible driver to take you home, preferably someone who can stay with you for the first few days to help you around the house. You may be given a compression garment to help your skin retract and minimize swelling; wear it as long as your surgeon recommends. Some patients may require a drain to allow blood or fluids to be released from the wound site.
Because of the surgical area, most patients will need to take about two weeks off work and regular activities while the thighs heal. Those with more active jobs may need to take a little longer to return to work. Most patients can exercise and return to all normal activities within 4–6 weeks after surgery.
After surgery, bruising and swelling may remain for up to four weeks. While some improvement in the shape of the thighs is immediate, results will improve as swelling dissipates and the tissue heals over the following months.
What Results Can I Expect From a Thigh Lift?
As swelling and bruising heal, you’ll see the results of your thigh lift emerge: all sagging skin is eliminated and the slimmer contours of your thighs revealed. As your scars lighten and heal, you’ll see the final results. After your thigh lift, you can wear shorts, bathing suits, and dresses, enjoy physical activities like running or jogging, and feel more confident.

Thigh Lift FAQs
What will my thigh lift scars look like?
The placement of your incisions directly indicates where your thigh lift scars will be. While scarring is a necessary part of any surgery, our surgeons are experts in minimizing scar visibility and size whenever possible. You can minimize scars throughout recovery with silicone scar sheets or topical creams. Once you are healed, protect your skin with a strong SPF every time you are in the sun to avoid darkening your scars.
When can I work out after my thigh lift?
Returning to light exercise like walking is necessary early in recovery to help prevent blood clots, but more intensive exercise is strictly limited for a few weeks. Your surgeon will give you specific instructions for when you can return to exercise, but typically around 4–6 weeks.
What are the risks of thigh lift surgery?
All surgery carries some risk. While rare, potential risks of a thigh lift include:
- Large scars
- Nerve damage
- Fluid accumulation
- Poor healing
- Excess bleeding
Choosing a plastic surgeon with extensive body contouring experience can significantly reduce these risks.
